Safety Rules
ST. CHARLES BAY HUNTING CLUB PLEASE TAKE NOTICE The activities at St. Charles Bay Hunting Club include the use of firearms, fishing equipment, boats, and related equipment in an environment that, by its nature, affords risks to participants. In order to minimize the risk of accidents, and afford safety to the members and their guests, please be mindful of the following-. 1 Loaded guns will not be allowed in the sleeping cabins or in the clubhouse. 2. Guns will not be loaded until after final arrival in the shooting blind. 3. When finished shooting, be certain gun is unloaded before placing it in case for transport back to Club. 4. Treat all guns as if they were loaded with muzzle pointed to the ground or to the sky. 5, Guides may ask members or guests to check guns before leaving blinds, before entering the air boat, or before entering the launch. As guns are passed back and forth, a high chance for serious accident exists should a gun remain loaded. 6. Know your target and what is before and beyond it. Shooting over someone when they are out of the blind is strictly forbidden. 7. Gun cleaning should not be done inside the sleeping cabins, so as to minimize damage to the furnishings. Do not place guns on the bads. a. Guns should be placed in gun racks or under the beds so as to minimize the risk of falling accidentally. 9. At the time of arrival at the Club, all members and guests will sign a form which will list all pertinent information (name, address, and license number) as well as a checklist showing that the individual has all proper stamps, steel shot, and that his gun is properly plugged. This checklist must be initialed by the member to certify its compliance. 10. A guest will be required to hunt with a member or a guide or have satisfied the requirement that he had hunted at the Club at least once the prior season. ii. Novice or first time hunters will be requested to watch a duck identification video tape to be played in the lounge each evening after dinner. 12. No alcoholic beverages are to be taken to the blinds. The Club Manager is authorized to refuse use of the Club launches or skiffs to any persons who are, in his opinion, intoxicated. 13. Members are responsible for any damage to motors or skiffs used by themselves or their guests. The Club takes no responsibility for any personal injury or loss of property associated with the use of skiffs and motors, launches, or air boats. 14. Care should be taken when moving to and from the boats to other boats, or the blinds, Surfaces are slippery and the boats may be unsteady. 15. Ultimate responsibility for compliance to Club rules lies with the member. Failure to comply will bring about action by the Board, Board of Governors
